Welcome to The Scottish Tutor Directory
It's great to have you here! My name is Emma - a fully qualified and experienced teacher and tutor of 20+ years. I have been tutoring full time since 2018 and I wanted to create a trusted, inspiring, colourful magazine-style resource for parents to get to know the very best independent teachers and tutors offering private tuition and classes in Scotland.

Tutors who are successful in joining the directory must provide sufficient evidence of qualifications, experience, professionalism and references. They must already run a tutoring business with a proven track record of working closely with learners in Scotland and be able to demonstrate their success in this.

The emphasis is on (and priority is given to):
- fully qualified, experienced, professional teachers who have left the classroom to work with learners one-to-one or in a small group setting, and who are now dedicated to running their own small, independent tutoring business
and
- fully qualified, experienced, professional teachers who are dedicated tutors in their free time alongside, their current classroom work.

You can read a more detailed description of what we ask of our tutors here.

In the meantime, enjoy looking through the directory and getting to know some of the most dedicated professional tutors Scotland has to offer!

Happy browsing*

*DISCLAIMER: Please note that The Scottish Tutor Directory, despite setting specific and strict requirements for selection, cannot absolutely guarantee the legitimacy or professionalism of any tutor listed here. Each tutor runs their own business, independent from the directory itself, which is simply a showcase and portal to help parents in Scotland find suitable tutors. The Scottish Tutor Directory doesn't claim to know the professional practices of individual tutors and cannot recommend or endorse any tutors listed here. We accept applications in good faith and assume information provided to us gives a real and honest account of the applicant..

*We aim to mitigate any issues by providing strict joining guidelines, fees for entry and by asking for as much information as possible. We hope that only positive experiences will come from any connections made through the directory, however parents are 100% responsible for doing their own background research on any tutor they hire. Asking for proof of qualifications and references is usually a sensible first line in communication. The Scottish Tutor Directory cannot be held responsible for the outcome of any tutoring arrangement, and parents proceed at their own risk.
