Tutor? Join us...

A Warm Welcome - Teachers and Tutors!
Join our new directory and showcase the wonderful work you do!

We are looking for Scotland's best, fully qualified, highly experienced teaching professionals who run their own independent tutoring business and who would like to showcase their tuition practice to Scotland's parents and carers.

Tutoring, as you know, is very much a field where reputation is everything and where integrity and ethical practice should never be compromised. We welcome applications from those who actively uphold and demonstrate these values and can provide solid evidence of qualifications, experience, professionalism and a passion to help learners thrive.

In a largely unregulated industry, with a wide variation in quality, experience and transparency, we aim to only showcase those who have a proven, professional track-record in tutoring young people successfully; who are dedicated and passionate about making a difference in the lives of learners, and who are willing to show us the person behind the business. We want to really get to know you and what you can offer families and young people. What separates you from other tutors? How do you make a difference to your tutees?

*ELIGIBILITY

Tutors who are successful in joining the directory must provide sufficient evidence of qualifications, experience, professionalism and references. They must already run a tutoring business with a proven track record of working closely with learners in Scotland and be able to demonstrate their success in this.

The emphasis is on (and priority is given to):
- fully qualified, experienced, professional teachers who have left the classroom to work with learners one-to-one or in a small group setting, and who are now dedicated to running their own small, independent tutoring business
and
- fully qualified, experienced, professional teachers who are dedicated tutors in their free time alongside, their current classroom work.

For the most part, tutors in our directory are required to be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). Details of GTCS membership status must be provided. In some cases, where tutors are no longer teaching in a school setting, GTCS membership may have lapsed. Likewise, specific fields, like music tuition, don't require GTCS membership.

There is also a recognition that some professionals provide a valuable tuition service, having already built up a reputable tuition business but may not hold a traditional teaching qualification. Their inclusion in our directory is not commonplace and depends on several factors combining: robust academic credentials, a wealth of industry experience, many years of practice as a tutor, a professional online presence and an ability to demonstrate an existing successful service backed by solid testimonials from parents. Individuals in this category may apply, however, addition to the directory will be at the sole discretion of the publisher and cannot be expected.

Other instructors or coaches may offer 'hobby or interest-based' tuition
e.g. art, music, art, craft, sport, conversational languages, etc. . We know, especially with the rise in home education, that not all parents are looking for tuition to 'formal qualification-standard' and are often simply looking to widen the interests of their children, and open them up to creativity and new experiences. We encourage instructors and coaches who offer hobby-based classes and tuition to apply to our directory, to offer parents variety and choice for their children.

Please note: We don't accept tutors who are students, franchisees, larger companies, tutoring agencies or other directories at this time.
