My Backstory
It all began by chance when I was 17, when a friend needed help with maths. I quickly realised my true gift was passing on my maths knowledge, not just gaining it.  For two decades, this passion has been my calling. I found my purpose in helping others love maths!

The Service I Provide
I support secondary students (both home-educated and studying at school) who are preparing for GCSE/iGCSE and Nat 5 Maths, A-Level Pure Maths, and Scottish Higher/Advanced Higher Maths. My flexible online solutions include my Maths Club, small group tuition, and personalised one-to-one mentorship, all tailored to transform individual maths journeys. I also support parents to become the best maths study buddies for their children.

My Qualifications and Experience
As a lifelong mathematician with a Maths degree in both Mathematics and Biology, I bring  20 years of experience to my students. This dual background allows me to show students how maths is everywhere in nature and around us, making it approachable and practical.

My Approach
My approach moves beyond traditional methods, focusing on rebuilding confidence and transforming mindsets. I help students not just learn maths, but truly embrace it as simple, fun, and easy, showing them “Yes, you can!” when it comes to maths.

Quick-fire Q+A
Most rewarding thing about being a tutor?
Seeing the moment a student truly understands something. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch maths change from something scary to something they enjoy and feel confident about.

Advice you'd give parents seeking a tutor?
Look for a tutor who not only understands their subject and how to teach it, but also prioritises understanding the learner’s mindset, so they can both work on it together. That’s the key to sustainable success and a truly transformative, positive learning experience.

Most exciting part of the job?
It's incredibly exciting to simplify maths and make the “alien language” (∑ ∫ π ∂ ∩ θ ∝ ξ ∅) accessible and fun. The students’ “aha!” moments are the best reward for me!

Why do you do what you do?
I believe 'being bad at maths' is a myth. Demystifying this very common limiting belief fuels my journey as an educator. My mission is to break the cycle of generational maths trauma, empowering everyone to experience maths as simple, fun, and easy, helping them open doors to new possibilities.

One thing you'd like all learners to know?
You are more capable than you think! Maths is not about being ‘clever’; it's about the right motivation, curiosity, persistence, and finding an approach that resonates with you.

Three random, fun facts about yourself that have nothing to do with tutoring..?
1.  I’m a vegan and wildlife advocate, recharging best outdoors and in nature.
2.  I’m not originally from Scotland, so my only Nat 5 is in Scottish Gaelic, which I did in 2024.
3.  I love wild swimming, all year round, so you can find me swimming amongst the ice sheets in local lochs.
