My Backstory
My experience as a Support for Learning Teacher highlighted that the lack of appropriate support for children with neurodiversity, has left many children and families struggling. I created the HomeschoolteacherFife in September 2025 to support flexi-schoolers/ home educated learners to feel safe, successful, confident and happy with learning. The Service I Provide
I provide face to face bespoke literacy or numeracy support for children who are flexi-schooling or home educated. 60 minute sessions from my home where I provide a safe, calm learning environment for children age 4-14. I am qualified to teach Nursery to S2 stage learners. My Qualifications and Experience
I have 25 years of teaching experience in the classroom, 6 years of which was in Support for Learning with a specific focus on Neurodiversity, Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. I have a BEd Hons. 2:1 degree from Glasgow University, Dyslexia badges from Open University Dyslexia Scotland courses and I have been tutoring for Kip McGrath for four years. My Approach
I believe that learning should be fun and enjoyable, where the child feels safe and able to take risks. Teaching children is a privilege. Forming relationships and building trust is vital for both children and families._____________________________________

Quick-fire Q+A
Most rewarding thing about being a teacher?
The most rewarding thing about being a teacher is the joy you get when a child has grasped a concept that they have been struggling with and when you can see the confidence that has grown in a child with your input.
Advice you'd give parents seeking a tutor?
The best advice I would give parents looking for a tutor would be to check out all the references and reviews. Make sure the person is who they say they are, using reputable sites like The Scottish Tutor Directory should give parents the confidence to know that tutors are thoroughly vetted.
Most exciting part of the job?
Most exciting part of the job is meeting new children and building new relationships. I love when I am able to find a connection with a child and then the fun of learning can begin.
Why do you do what you do?
I have always wanted to be a teacher and have done this job my whole life. I love being around children and having fun through play and learning. Now that I have started my own teaching business the joy I am getting at helping children and their families to navigate education and neurodiversity is so rewarding.
One thing you'd like all learners to know?
One thing I would like all learners to know would be that I will find a way to support you in your learning and to enable you to have the confidence to take risks. I will make the experience fun and interesting and will take my lead from you, providing breaks where needed and the environment that is right for you.
Three random, fun facts about yourself that have nothing to do with tutoring..?
1. I love dinosaurs.
2. My favourite drink is tea.
3. I enjoy going on holidays to different places with my family.
